FAQ

CLIENT FAQ

CAN WE MEET WITH YOU?

In most cases I prefer meeting potential clients. Phone calls and emails can become quite time consuming if there is lots to discuss and confirm. It’s also another great way to get to know each other, and for you guys to determine if we’ll be a good fit. Meetings do get a bit trickier to schedule during wedding season (Sept – May) but it’s not impossible. Get in touch and let’s see what we can do.

WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO BOOK MY DATE?

A 50% deposit of the total amount invoiced is required to secure your date in my calendar. Other elements like a second shooter and/or extra hours can be added up to two weeks from your wedding date.

WE’RE BACK FROM HONEYMOON, CAN WE SEE OUR PHOTOS?

I take great care in making sure all images are edited and treated, so that you receive the best possible wedding collection from me. Please allow 6-8 weeks for delivery.

DO WE NEED A SECOND SHOOTER?

It never hurts to have an additional set of eyes at the wedding but there are definitely cases where it’s going to dramatically change the coverage of the day. If you’re having a wedding with a large guest count (200+), or a lot going on (events or logistics), it’s probably wise to have a second photographer there with me. I can get a lot done on my own but there’s situations where I can’t be in two places at once (typically getting ready photos). The people that shoot alongside me are incredibly talented and do work that will compliment my own in a way that seamlessly tells your story. If you’re still unsure, we can talk about your wedding and see what will work best for you.

DO YOU WORK WITH AN ASSISTANT?

Yes most of the time, but my assistant is purely there to assist me. If you would like a second photographer, see question above.

DO YOU SHOOT FAMILY SESSIONS?

Absolutely! I love shooting families with the same approach and style I use for my other work. Pricing is the same as an engagement session and includes the same 1-2 hours of shooting, an online gallery and images delivered on USB.

DO YOU TRAVEL?

Yes, absolutely. The first 100km’s from Durbanville is free, and included in all my packages. Should the round trip be further than 100km’s a cost of R6.50p/km applies as per the AA rates for my car.
If you have an international request, please contact me for a specialised package.

WHAT USAGE RIGHTS DO WE HAVE WITH OUR IMAGES?

You can pretty much do anything with them short of selling or licensing them for use without my approval, so feel free to make prints or photo books on your own.

SHOOTING FAQ

WHAT GEAR DO YOU USE?

I shoot with a Canon Mark III and an assortment of prime lenses.

CAN WE HAVE ACCESS TO THE RAW FILES?

I don’t offer raw files for sale.

ARE YOU OPEN TO OUR SHOT IDEAS?

Of course! As long as they doesn’t interfere with the chemistry between the two of you, I’m all for it. This is a collaborative process, I’m happy to work together on ideas. However, what I don’t recommend is basing your expectations on a Pinterest board. While Pinterest is a great tool for ideas and inspiration, it should never be treated as a blueprint to your day/session as it’s impossible to replicate the exact light/chemistry/etc in a collection of photos taken by multiple extraordinary photographers. If you do have a board you’d like to share, I’d love to see it just to get an idea of what aesthetic qualities you are into.

IS AN ENGAGEMENT SESSION NECESSARY?

It’s definitely not necessary, but it makes a massive difference on your wedding day, that’s why I’m a huge fan of doing a portrait session before the wedding. You get a feel for how I work, and I get to know you guys a little better.
It makes such a big difference seeing a familiar face on your wedding day.
